A weekly review is the keystone habit of any productivity system. Most templates fail because they take 90 minutes. Here is the 25-minute version.
Five sections, five minutes each
Inbox zero. Open loops. Calendar audit. Project status. Next week intent. Set a 25-minute timer; if you're not done, stop anyway.
Inbox zero (5 min)
Process email + capture inbox into the right next-action or reference location. No reading articles, just routing.
Open loops (5 min)
Walk through every active project. For each: what is the next action? Is it scheduled? If not, schedule it. If you can't identify a next action, the project is stalled — flag it.
Calendar audit (5 min)
Look at last week's calendar. What did you commit to that you didn't do? What did you spend time on that produced nothing? Calendar honesty beats calendar optimism.
Project status + next week intent (10 min)
For each active project, write one line: progress, blockers, next milestone. Then pick THREE things you want to make true by next Sunday. Three is the magic number — five guarantees failure.
